The article Venezuelan Women Lose Access to Contraception, and Control of Their Lives, The New York Times, February 20th, 2021, was used as the inspiration for a striking and relevant graphic. The Venezuela’s Health System is so broken that it can no longer provide contraception during a time where women can barely feed the children they already have. This had led maternal deaths to surge 65% between 2015 and 2016 The government has since stopped releasing data.
Concept
Contraception has the power to rewrite a woman’s future. In Venezuela there's a feeling of salvation if they are lucky enough to attain this freedom. This visual concept captures the importance of autonomy over your own body.
